      <title>Raleigh Chapter - Fixing Depreciation Errors</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 14px;"&gt;President Stephen Metelits called the meeting to order at 6:30 Pm. After the minutes and treasurer's report were approved, announcements were made regarding upcoming events.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 14px;"&gt;Following dinner, Larry Grossman presented "Fixing Depreciation Errors" with some very helpful member participation forms, Form 3115 and examples of the Supporting Statement to the Form 3115, making it easy to follow the line by line instruction of Form 3115. After the Q &amp;amp; A, and having no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:12 pm.&lt;br&gt;

NCDOR’s &lt;strong&gt;Jonetta Appling&lt;/strong&gt; spoke to the large at- tendance of 29 about the changes to the NC Sales Tax Law. To sum it up Jonetta said, “Always remember someone must pay the sa les tax.” The chapter will meet on Thursday, August 25th at Pinewood Country Club with &lt;strong&gt;Curt Lee&lt;/strong&gt; on hand to discuss our Right to Practice and his work with NSA. Please note the change to Thursday for this one meeting. The chapter will welcome NCSA and NSA Past President, and PTI Tax presenter &lt;strong&gt;Paul Bumgarner&lt;/strong&gt; to the meeting on August 23rd again at Golden Corral in Matthews. &lt;p style="line-height: 12px;"&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 12px;"&gt;The Eastern Chapter met on Tuesday, July 26th at H&amp;amp;R Block in Greenville. &lt;strong&gt;Tracy Stroud&lt;/strong&gt;, Associate Attorney with Colombo, Kitchin, Dunn, Ball &amp;amp; Porter, LLP spoke to the chapter about the changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act and the expansion of overtime to so-called white collar sala- ried workers. The chapter will have a meeting with NCDOR’s Jonetta Appling tentatively scheduled to speak on Monday, July 25th at Magnolia 23 in Asheboro, please note the new location for this meeting. Central Chapter meets on the 4th Monday of each month. &lt;p&gt;2016 is a fast moving year indeed, with Convention, Leadership Day, and then the Education Season coming quickly. NCSA chapters are moving quickly also with chapter elections, great meetings with information and fellowship. Have you attend-ed your local chapter lately? Are you curious about what happens at our chapter meetings? Take time out to attend this month! For now, read on to see what has been happening across our state.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Burlington&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Burlington Chapter met Tuesday May 24 for a dinner meeting at Kimbers Restaurant in Gibsonville. The meeting was a roundtable discussion of various member issues. &lt;p&gt;Cape Fear&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Cape Fear met on Monday May 16th at the Brass Lantern in Dunn with James Upton giving an After Season Roundup of Tax Issues presentation. The next meeting will be held June 20th with location to be announced. In other news Cheryl Hudson and Merry Arnett announced their resignations from chapter offices and the chapter is actively seeking volunteers. &lt;p&gt;Central&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The chapter met on Monday May 23rd at Sagebrush at 6pm with James Upton giving an After Season Roundup of Tax Issues presentation. Topics covered included Hobby Losses, Additional Tax Credit for LLC Annual Report Fee paid by NC S-Corps, UPE-Unreimbursed Partner Expenses, and when to obtain a new EIN. The next meeting will feature David Hooker speaking on Engagement Letters. Central Chapter meets on the 4th Mon-day of each month. &lt;p&gt;Charlotte&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Charlotte Chapter met at Captain Steve’s on Tuesday May 24th. The chapter meeting scheduled was to include a presentation by David Hooker, but due to a low number responding and David’s long travel time that meeting will be rescheduled. &lt;p&gt;Eastern&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Eastern Chapter met on May 24th at H&amp;amp;R Block in Greenville. Ron Powell spoke on Surviving an IRS Audit. &lt;p&gt;Hickory&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Hickory Chapter met on Wednesday May 25th at Abingdon Glen Village. Jim Holmes was on hand to speak on NC Probate and Simple Estate Administration. Upcoming: The Hickory Chapter will be planning their annual cookout at Lake Hickory soon; details will be announced. The Hickory Chapter normally meets the last Monday of each month. &lt;p&gt;Piedmont&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Piedmont Chapter held its annual Scholarship Fundraiser and Cookout at 4th of July Park in Kernersville on Thursday May 26th. The Pied-mont Chapter has a history of supporting the NCSA Scholarship Foundation, especially in memory of Steve Pace. Piedmont Chapter normally meets on the last Thursday of each month. &lt;p&gt;Raleigh&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Raleigh Chapter met on Tuesday May 24th at Manchesters. Larry Grossman continued his 1040 Line by Line Series as well as addressed the chapter on recruiting new members and presented a recruiting plan to achieve results. &lt;p&gt;Sandhills-Sanford&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Sandhills-Sanford Chapter met Thursday May 26th at Valenti’s Italian in Vass. Gary Briggs with Moore County Tax Department spoke on Business Personal Property Tax Listings. As we look toward the education season that is gearing up don’t forget that your chapter meetings offer great topics each month. &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;font style="font-size: 13px;"&gt;Burlington&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;The Burlington Chapter met on Thursday, July 23&lt;/font&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;rd&lt;/font&gt; &lt;font color="#000000"&gt;at Kimber’s in Gibsonville. Thirteen were in attendance for the meeting to hear NCSA Past President &lt;strong&gt;Stephen Metelits&lt;/strong&gt; speak on the new Tangible Property Regulations. Next month the chapter will meet on August 27&lt;/font&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;th&lt;/font&gt; &lt;font color="#000000"&gt;again at Kimber’s with &lt;strong&gt;James Upton&lt;/strong&gt; speaking on Health Savings Accounts. &lt;p&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;The Cape Fear chapter met on Monday, July 20th at Sammio’s in Fayetteville. NCSA President &lt;strong&gt;Ron Powell&lt;/strong&gt; spoke on How to Survive an IRS Audit. The chapter had a good attendance of 13. The chapter normally meets the 1&lt;sup&gt;st&lt;/sup&gt; Monday after the 15&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt;&lt;/font&gt; &lt;font color="#000000"&gt;each month. &lt;p&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;The Central Chapter held their monthly meeting on Monday, July 27&lt;/font&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;th&lt;/font&gt; &lt;font color="#000000"&gt;at Sagebrush Steakhouse in Asheboro. A double header with NCSA Past President &lt;strong&gt;David Rollins&lt;/strong&gt; speaking on NCSA’s Website and Chapter Promotions Chair &lt;strong&gt;Marsha Wheeler&lt;/strong&gt; speaking on ways to better promote our chapter. The 18 in attendance were treated to some of Marsha’s famous brownies. Next month will feature &lt;strong&gt;Greta Lint&lt;/strong&gt; speaking on Social Media and Promoting your Practice. One of the chapter’s own members NSA and NCSA Past President &lt;strong&gt;Paul Bumgarner&lt;/strong&gt; spoke on How the ACA affects Employers to the 14 who attended. The chapter will meet next with IRS Senior Stakeholder Liaison &lt;strong&gt;Eugenia Tabon&lt;/strong&gt; on August 27&lt;/font&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;th&lt;/font&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;. The Charlotte Chapter normally meets on the 4&lt;/font&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;th&lt;/font&gt; &lt;font color="#000000"&gt;Thursday of each month. The chapter welcomed &lt;strong&gt;Marsha Wheeler&lt;/strong&gt;, Chapter Promotions chair, she discussed ways to continue building the chapter and praised the efforts of the leaders and members there. Next month will feature a presentation from NCSA Past President &lt;strong&gt;J.R. Lawson&lt;/strong&gt; speaking on Business Valuations. The Eastern chapter meets on the 4&lt;/font&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;th&lt;/font&gt; &lt;font color="#000000"&gt;Tuesday each month at H&amp;amp;R Block in Greenville. &lt;p&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;The Hickory Chapter met on Saturday, July 18&lt;/font&gt;&lt;font color="#000000"&gt;th&lt;/font&gt; &lt;font color="#000000"&gt;at the home of &lt;strong&gt;Ken &amp;amp; Coleene Cockrell&lt;/strong&gt; on Lake Hickory. The meeting was the chapter’s annual cookout social and was enjoyed by all in attendance including NCSA President &lt;strong&gt;Ron Powell&lt;/strong&gt; and wife &lt;strong&gt;Latefa&lt;/strong&gt;. Chapter Co-Vice President &lt;strong&gt;Larry Grossman&lt;/strong&gt; related a small business story called Joes Hot Dogs. Next month NCSA Board Member &lt;strong&gt;Robert Pia&lt;/strong&gt; and &lt;strong&gt;Curt Lee&lt;/strong&gt; will explore in depth the workings of NCSA. NCSA President &lt;strong&gt;Ron Powell&lt;/strong&gt; spoke on CPE Requirements for 1 hour of Ethics. NCSA Past President and Webmaster &lt;strong&gt;David Rollins&lt;/strong&gt; also spoke and demonstrated the NCSA website and new updates. The chapter held its installation of officers and welcomed new President Gaye Saunders, new Secretary Marissa Santiago, and appointed Crystal Wambeke as Chapter Promotions Chair. &lt;p&gt;&lt;font color="#333333"&gt;The Burlington Chapter met on Thursday, May 28th at Kimbers in Gibsonville. Seven chapter members and two guests were present for a roundtable discussion led by chapter president James L. Holmes. Items discussed included the recent IRS Data Breach in the Get Transcript application. The Burlington chapter normally meets on the 4th Thursday of each month. NCSA’s NSA State Director Curt Lee discussed our right to practice as Accountants in North Carolina. The chapter will meet next on June 22nd in Fayetteville with James Upton as the speaker. The chapter normally meets the 1st Monday after the 15th each month. &lt;p align="full"&gt;What a tax season it has been! 1095 forms and their corrections, Repair Regulations, 3115’s and winter storms made this one of the most challenging tax seasons in memory. Aren’t you glad that you are a member of NCSA and had a network of colleagues to support you this tax season? It is time to focus on getting back to business as usual, after some needed rest and relaxation. NCSA chapters took a hiatus in February due to the weather except The Central Chapter, kudos to you for getting a meeting in.
