    President Stephen Metelits called the meeting to order at 6:30 Pm. After the minutes and treasurer's report were approved, announcements were made regarding upcoming events.

    Following dinner, Larry Grossman presented "Fixing Depreciation Errors" with some very helpful member participation forms, Form 3115 and examples of the Supporting Statement to the Form 3115, making it easy to follow the line by line instruction of Form 3115. After the Q & A, and having no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:12 pm.

    Burlington

    The Burlington Chapter met Thursday, July 28th at Kimbers in Gibsonville.     Cape Fear

    The Cape Fear met on Monday, July 18th at Sammio’s in Fayetteville.  The chapter welcomed NCSA President Jim Holmes who installed chapter officers Glenn Murphy President, Michael Black Vice President, Marsha Wheeler Treasurer and Kris McLamb Secretary.     The chapter met on Monday, July 25th at Magnolia 23 Restaurant in downtown Asheboro. NCDOR’s Jonetta Appling spoke to the large at- tendance of 29 about the changes to the NC Sales Tax Law. To sum it up Jonetta said, “Always remember someone must pay the sa les tax.” The chapter will meet on Thursday, August 25th at Pinewood Country Club with Curt Lee on hand to discuss our Right to Practice and his work with NSA.     The Charlotte Chapter met at Golden Corral in Matthews with 12 in attendance. Howard Michael of NCDES was on hand to update the mem- bers on changes in Employment Security law.     The Eastern Chapter met on Tuesday, July 26th at H&R Block in Greenville. Tracy Stroud, Associate Attorney with Colombo, Kitchin, Dunn, Ball & Porter, LLP spoke to the chapter about the changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act and the expansion of overtime to so-called white collar sala- ried workers.     The Hickory Chapter held their annual cookout at Lake Hickory at the home of Ken and Coleene Cockrell at 2pm on Saturday, July 16, 2016.     The Sandhills-Sanford Chapter met Thursday, July 28th at the Soup Company in Carthage. NCSA President Elect James Upton was on hand to install officers April Eads President, Mark Bouchier Vice-president, Naomi Ulrich Treasurer, and Brenda Barger Secretary. The chapter discussed upcoming meetings and James Upton talked about NCSA and the necessity of member recruiting and supporting the QAR program. In addition, the members had a roundtable of tax and accounting topics.     Our society has started a new fiscal year with some new officers and some new directors; many of our chapters also have elected new officers.     The chapter met on Monday May 23rd at Sagebrush at 6pm with James Upton giving an After Season Roundup of Tax Issues presentation. Topics covered included Hobby Losses, Additional Tax Credit for LLC Annual Report Fee paid by NC S-Corps, UPE-Unreimbursed Partner Expenses, and when to obtain a new EIN.     The Burlington Chapter met on Thursday September 24, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at Kimbers Restaurant in Gibsonville.  Wehad no Speak er Prograthis month so we had fellowship and discussion.  President Jim Holmes gave us a handout on the Affordable Care Act Advanced P remium Credit and a Thomson Reuters Checkpoint handout on the Projected 2016 Inflation-Adjusted Tax Brackets and Other Key Figures.  He also gave us a report on the most recent meeting of the National Society of Accountants Federal Taxation Committee, of which he has been a member for several years.  Our next meeting will be onThursday, October 22, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at Kimbers Restaurant in Gibsonville.  Lauren Benbow from the North Carolina Secretary of State office will be our Guest Speaker.  The Burlington chapter normally meets on the 4th Thursday of each month .     Summer is passing us by. Soon kids will be headed back to school, and those calendar year corporate extensions will be due! As we look toward the education season that is gearing up don’t forget that your chapter meetings offer great topics each month. NCSA chapters are a great place to network, fellowship, and commiserate with your fellow colleagues. Take time out to attend a chapter meeting this month!

    Burlington

    The Burlington Chapter met on Thursday, July 23rd at Kimber’s in Gibsonville. Thirteen were in attendance for the meeting to hear NCSA Past President Stephen Metelits speak on the new Tangible Property Regulations. Next month the chapter will meet on August 27th again at Kimber’s with James Upton speaking on Health Savings Accounts.     Cape Fear

    The Cape Fear chapter met on Monday, July 20th at Sammio’s in Fayetteville. NCSA President Ron Powell spoke on How to Survive an IRS Audit. The chapter had a good attendance of 13.     Central

    The Central Chapter held their monthly meeting on Monday, July 27th at Sagebrush Steakhouse in Asheboro. A double header with NCSA Past President David Rollins speaking on NCSA’s Website and Chapter Promotions Chair Marsha Wheeler speaking on ways to better promote our chapter. The 18 in attendance were treated to some of Marsha’s famous brownies. Next month will feature Greta Lint speaking on Social Media and Promoting your Practice.     Charlotte

    The Charlotte Chapter met on Thursday, July 23rd at Captains Cove (was Captains Galley) in Matthews. One of the chapter’s own members NSA and NCSA Past President Paul Bumgarner spoke on How the ACA affects Employers to the 14 who attended. The chapter will meet next with IRS Senior Stakeholder Liaison Eugenia Tabon on August 27th. The Charlotte Chapter normally meets on the 4th Thursday of each month.     Eastern

    The Eastern Chapter met at H&R Block in Greenville. The chapter welcomed Marsha Wheeler, Chapter Promotions chair, she discussed ways to continue building the chapter and praised the efforts of the leaders and members there. Next month will feature a presentation from NCSA Past President J.R. Lawson speaking on Business Valuations. The Eastern chapter meets on the 4th Tuesday each month at H&R Block in Greenville.     The Hickory Chapter met on Saturday, July 18th at the home of Ken & Coleene Cockrell on Lake Hickory. The meeting was the chapter’s annual cookout social and was enjoyed by all in attendance including NCSA President Ron Powell and wife Latefa.     The Raleigh Chapter met Tuesday, July 28th at Manchesters in North Raleigh. Chapter Co-Vice President Larry Grossman related a small business story called Joes Hot Dogs. Next month NCSA Board Member Robert Pia and Curt Lee will explore in depth the workings of NCSA. The Raleigh Chapter meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month.     The Sandhills-Sanford Chapter met on Thursday, July 23rd at Table on the Green in Pinehurst. NCSA President Ron Powell spoke on CPE Requirements for 1 hour of Ethics. NCSA Past President and Webmaster David Rollins also spoke and demonstrated the NCSA website and new updates. The chapter held its installation of officers and welcomed new President Gaye Saunders, new Secretary Marissa Santiago, and appointed Crystal Wambeke as Chapter Promotions Chair.
