David Hooker is preparing to memorialize his late friend Steve Pace again this year with a round of drinks at the bar for the after convention revelers. Lookout bartenders, his tab was in the thousands last year, but he says he is cutting his budget back for 2016; he is an accountant after all!
Jense Haynes Creighton enjoyed her first trip to the EA’s Carolina Connection Seminar and their convention in Wrightsville Beach. She said she learned a lot about representation issues, and how they conduct a 50-minute convention. This makes us wonder are we too long winded at our convention? As one former NCSA board member (who shall remain nameless) put it when it gets close to lunch the best committee report is “No report”!
Well wishes go out to David Rollins’ dad Bill Rollins who has suffered some ill health recently. Feel better soon!
John McKinney was spotted on Facebook enjoying the view of the moon over Brown Mountain from his motorcycle on the Blue Ridge Parkway recently. Wonder if he saw any strange lights up there? Glad some of our members are taking time to relax!
Members Passing:
We are late in mentioning the death of NCSA Past President (1981-1982) Harold D. Hinton of Raleigh who passed away March 23 after dedicating his life to his love of work, clients and family. Harold was born March 14, 1933, in Johnston County. After graduating from Corinth Holder's school, where he was active in many sports, he married Shirley Allen. He served several years in the Army during the Korean War, being stationed in Japan. After returning from military service, he began his work career and continued his education to obtain an Accounting Degree. Up to the time of his death, he operated his accounting practice for over 60 years. He was thought of fondly in NCSA and members recently recalled that Harold and past Executive Director the late Annette Boutwell could be found at any time trekking across the state to chapter meetings and at-tending to society business. Rest in peace Harold.
Recently the board of directors was informed of the passing of Ruby Black of Cherryville. Mrs. Black was a determined entrepreneur in her life and, in addition to being an accountant and enrolled agent, she operated a large insurance agency with offices in Cherryville and Lincolnton. She acquired advanced degrees in her later life, and her last endeavor was to own several family care homes. As one of our members said at a chapter meeting in Dunn recently, our members truly are remarkable people, the cream of the crop, they are what makes NCSA the outstanding organization that it is. If we only knew the achievements that you all have made in your careers and lives. Why not take time to share them with us!
